Art as door: Art exhibition at Transformation Gallery - By Enrique Zaldivar

It is an honor for me to be part of the "Doors" exhibition presented by the Transformation Gallery, which aims to reflect on the meaning of the door as an object and how it facilitates communication with others.

For this project, three doors were given to three artists, each tasked with showcasing their vision and interpretation.

My Vision:
"My purpose with this project is to explore the relationship between the private and the public, the personal and the external. The door is a more relevant symbol than ever, representing the level of interaction we wish to have with others—whether it's about immigration or our most intimate spaces.

A door always holds the potential to be opened; it’s a threshold that connects one side to another but only acquires meaning and functionality when opened. A closed door is, essentially, just a wall. I’m also interested in exploring art as a door, with the artist as the one who opens it and invites dialogue with each observer."

The event will take place on October 21, from 1-5 pm at the Transformation Gallery in Metuchen, New Jersey, where these mural-sculptures will be unveiled, alongside an exhibition featuring many other artists. The doors will remain on permanent display outside.
